Autumn in London with babies and toddlers is really special – brilliant park days, pumpkin patches, theatre shows and sensory activities. The capital is really stunning with falling leaves! If you’re looking for things to do in London with babies and toddlers over the autumn months (September / October) then you’ve come to the right place. I’m London mum of two boys (aged 7 and 3) who loves finding fun things to do with kids, days out and activities. My USP is that I only give recommendations that I think parents with truly enjoy as well as their babies and toddlers.

1. Visit a Pumpkin patch (most are just outside London) there is nothing cuter than a baby or toddler pumpkin picture.
Willow Farm – We went to Willow Farm last year for Pumpkin picking and it was brilliant fun. There’s always a full programme of events as well as the pumpkin patch itself. Such as Arts & Crafts, a Halloween maze, Character Shows including Patch the Pumpkin, Halloween Disco, Tractor Rides, Meet Peter Rabbit & Friends. Located in St Albans.
Willows also have special pre-school pumpkin festival running weekdays from 12th – 22nd

Bockett’s Farm – This was the first pumpkin patch that I ever took Oscar to. He was about 16 months old at the time. This year they have Witches and Wizards week with a pumpkin village, a Reptile Roadshow, Science and Slime Shows, crafts, a spooky disco plus all the usual farm activities. Located in Leatherhead, Surrey.

Garson Farm Pick Your Own – Pumpkin Parade is celebrating the Circus with a big-top experience. Bringing together the autumn harvest and the magic of the circus. Located in Esher in Surrey.
The London Pumpkin Patch – Includes winding paths photo moments and autumnal backdrops. Walk along and meet interactive characters along the way. With over 10,000 pumpkins to choose from. Located in Parsons Green.

Hobbledown Heath (Located in Hounslow and Surrey) – This popular, large family adventure park, zoo, and indoor soft play has a pick your perfect pumpkin for Halloween half term – with themed photo points, Pumpkin Nights, seasonal games, street food and lots more!
Also hosting Fright & Delight with bug-eating challenges, monster discos and creepy crawlies

Crockford Bridge Farm – Will be hosting an immersive adventure inspired by Willy Wonka with actors, dancers, and entertainers. Children uncover the missing ingredients for Wonka’s brand-new chocolate bar. Located in Addlestone, Surrey
There’s also pumpkin picking which finishes in mid-October (this is a separate event).

Tulleys – Europe’s Largest Pumpkin Festival with 1.5 million pumpkins. New for 2026, The Pumpkin Valley, filled with giant pumpkin sculptures and peaceful ponds. Located in Crawley, West Sussex
Cammus Hall – One of the the most popular pumpkin patches near London. Details TBC. Located in Hatfield Broad Oak, Essex.
2. Visit a Playground.
- Check out the newly reopened Diana Princess of Wales Memorial Playground which has a brand new huge Galleon themed around Captain Hooks ship in a sand pit.
- Also Hyde Park Discovery days which will include Hair raising Halloween 29 – 31 October, 11am – 3:30pm.
- The Children’s Garden at The Royal Botanic Gardens in Kew – Noah and I loved this garden when we visited! It’s huge and actually the size of 40 tennis courts. It’s the perfect place for children to learn about plant life, mini beasts and the natural elements.
- The Cove at the National Maritime Museum, Greenwich – One of the best playgrounds in London, this sea themed playground allows children to learn more about maritime life through play. They can climb a Kraken, explore a ship’s deck, explore the ‘Cutty Shark’s’ jaws and spin on a compass themed roundabout. Toddlers will love the bright colours and the multi-sensory elements of this playground.
- The Magic Garden, Hampton Court Palace – The perfect way for kids to learn about history at Henry VIII’s palace through play.
- St James’s Park – London’s oldest park. You can see Buckingham Palace from the bridge and spot real pelicans who call the park their home. Or spot ducks, geese and swans in the pond.
- WWT London Wetland Centre – A serene nature reserve in Barnes where families can discover restored wetland habitats of birds, butterflies, otters etc. Little ones with love the multi-sensory playground, playing the mud kitchen and sound garden. SUPER Natural family-friendly Halloween adventure. Explore the magical superpowers and folklore of the wetlands. There’s willow wand making, potion brewing and fungi hunting.
Date: 24 October – 1 November - Horniman Museum and Gardens – The Horniman Museum is a lovely and wholesome experience which can be a whole day out with toddlers. There’s 16 acres of garden including a sunken garden with perennial flower displays, a sound garden with musical instruments, a meadow field where dogs can roam, a prehistoric garden with a monkey puzzle tree, a bee garden (currently getting a makeover),a wildlife garden and nature trail. There’s also a animal walk with goats, sheep, guinea pigs, rabbits, chickens and alpacas.
- Greenwich Park – Greenwich Park has a record-making history as the place where east meets west at Longitude 0° on the Meridian Line, part of the Maritime Greenwich World Heritage Site. It is also the site of London’s longest herbaceous border, and over 3,000 trees.
- Battersea Park – Is one of my favourite parks – it’s huge and much less busy than Royal Parks. There’s several playgrounds dotted around the park with a few dedicated toddler playgrounds with classic play equipment, sand pits and imaginative play.
3. Go to a Show – there’s loads on for babies and toddlers in autumn in London.
Southbank Centre
The Smeds and the Smoos – On a far-off planet, Smeds and Smoos can’t be friends. So when a young Smed and Smoo fall in love and zoom off into space together, how will their families get them back? We love this book and adaptation.

Young V & A – One of London best museums for children is currently running a brilliant exhibition.‘ Inside Aardman: Wallace and Gromit and Friends‘ goes behind the scenes of the famous stop motion show casing how the classic characters are bought to life. There’s a dedicated play area for under 2s.
Postal Museum – Jolly Postman exhibition – interactive exhibition celebrating 40 years of Janet and Allan Ahlberg famous children’s book.Date: Until Jan 2027

London Museum of Docklands – Various activities. Tots at the Docks is a monthly on going play session. We love Mudlarks softplay.
RAF Museum – Little Swifts fun and lively sessions for pre-school children (aged 2-5 years) including arts and crafts, games, stories and songs all linked to the museums collection.

6. Go to the Zoo London Zoo – London Zoo transforms into a world of weird, wild and wonderful science as Horrible Science arrives.

The first ever Run Wild at London Zoo! On Sunday 20 September 2026 a fun morning of running before the Zoo opens to the public. A family-friendly fundraising running event, with 1 mile and 5km routes open to all abilities from age 4.
Winnie the Pooh at London Zoo Celebrating 100 years of Winnie-the-Pooh alongside the 200th anniversary of London Zoo with a special storybook trail bringing to life a new story inspired by A.A. Milne and E.H. Shepard.

7. The London Eye – One of London’s most iconic attractions! The world’s largest observation wheel at 135 metres high. It takes about thirty minutes and you can book various other experiences to enjoy including afternoon tea. Skip the queue by buying fast track tickets. Parents will love the amazing views, babies and toddlers will enjoy the gentle motion of the eye.

Baby Broadway family concerts are running. The next one in Covent Garden is 16th October priced £14. The whole family can sing and dance along to songs from hit musicals and films plus bubbles, puppets and dance moves
