Autumn is one of my favourite times of the year in London with the kids, I genuinely think it’s when the city is at it’s most beautiful. The leaves are turning, Halloween decorations are going up and I’m excited for autumn days out and discovering the best pumpkin patches near London.
I’ll be honest for years I mostly avoided taking Oscar and Noah on a trip to pumpkin patch and after going in 2021 I didn’t actually go back again until 2025. It just sounded cold, wet, muddy and I didn’t relish the idea of carrying heavy pumpkins. Basically better on Instagram than in reality.
But last year we had the most wonderful day at Willow Farm, the sun was shining, the fields were golden and everyone was smiling and I finally understood. the appeal. Over the next few years I’m determined to try the best pumpkin patches in and near London. Many of which are at activity farms with tractor rides, animals, soft play and seasonal dining. Plus the obligatory photos of course.

If you’re looking for pumpkin picking near London here are some great options in London and the outskirts: Surrey, Kent and Essex. All very easily done as a day trip.

Willows Activity Farm, St Albans – Best for a Full Family Day out
We went to Willow Farm last year for Pumpkin picking and it completely changed my mind about pumpkin patches. It was so much more fun than just choosing a pumpkin and leaving!
There’s always a full programme of events as well as the pumpkin patch itself. Such as Arts & Crafts, a Halloween maze, Character Shows including Patch the Pumpkin, Halloween Disco, Tractor Rides. Younger kids will love the meet Peter Rabbit & Friends activities and this is actually a brilliant choice for pre-schoolers.
My verdict: Willows is one of my top choices for Pumpkin picking near London. There’s plenty to entertain children all day making the journery from central London really worth it.

Willows also have a dedicated Pre-school Pumpkin Festival running weekdays from 12th – 22nd OCtober for if you can visit outside of the school holidays.
Bocketts Farm, Leatherhead – Best for animal loving kids
Bocketts Farm was the first pumpkin patch that I ever took Oscar to, he was about 16 months old at the time so I feel particularly nostalgic about this one. It’s a good option with babies and toddlers as pumpkin picking is just part of a bigger day out at the farm
During October half term, Bocketts Farm runs Witches and Wizards week with a Pumpkin Village alongside Halloween activities including a Reptile Roadshow, Science and Slime Shows, crafts, a spooky disco plus all of Bocketts usual activities such as farm animals, indoor and outdoor play and tractor rides.
My verdict: A brilliant choice with toddlers or preschoolers as it can be combined with a day at the farm. The indoor activities make a great contingency plan for an autumn day out in the UK.

Garsons Farm, Esher – Best for Traditional Pumpkin Picking
If you’re looking for a more traditional pumpkin picking experience near London, Garsons Farm in Esher is a great choice. Famous for its huge Pick Your Own farm, every autumn Garsons transforms its pumpkin fields for its annual Pumpkin Parade.
For 2026, the Pumpkin Parade has a circus theme, combining the autumn harvest with all the fun of the big top. Expect plenty of pumpkins to choose from, seasonal displays and brilliant autumnal photo opportunities as you make your way around the farm.
My verdict: This would be my pick if the actual pumpkin picking is your main reason for visiting It’s also an easy day trip from London and one that’s firmly on our list to try.

The London Pumpkin Patch, Parsons Green – Best Pumpkin Patch in London
If you love the idea of pumpkin picking (or the jury is still out!) but don’t fancy leaving London, The London Pumpkin Patch in Parsons Green might be a good way to try it. With more than 10,000 pumpkins, winding pathways, autumnal displays and plenty of photo opportunities, it brings the countryside into South West London.
As you explore the patch, children can encounter interactive characters along the way, while there are lots of seasonal backdrops for those all-important autumn family photos. Its biggest selling point is the location particularly if you don’t have a car (and we don’t) or don’t want to spend half the day travelling out of London for a pumpkin!
My verdict: One of the most convenient options for London families and a great choice if you want the pumpkin patch experience without committing to a full day out at a farm. It’s also high on our list to visit this autumn.

Best for: London families, younger children and anyone looking for an easy, accessible pumpkin-picking experience

Hobbledown Heath, Hounslow and Surrey – Best for a big day out
The pumpkin patch at Hobbledown Heath is a great option if you want a proper autumn experience without travelling too far out of London. Wander through rows of pumpkins before stopping for themed photo opportunities, seasonal games, marshmallow toasting and live entertainment. New for 2026, there are also fairground rides, an expanded family games area and street food.
You can visit the pumpkin patch on its own or combine it with a day at Hobbledown Heath, there’s a huge indoor play barn, outdoor adventure playgrounds and animals. There are also atmospheric Pumpkin Nights on selected October evenings.
My verdict: One of the best options if you want to stay within London but still get that proper pumpkin patch feel. I’d probably choose the combined Patch + Park ticket with children, as you can turn it into a full family day out rather than travelling there just to choose a pumpkin.

Crockford Bridge Farm, Surrey – Best Traditional Pumpkin Picking
For a more traditional pumpkin-picking experience, Crockford Bridge Farm in Surrey welcomes you into the growing fields and choose your pumpkin directly from the crop. There’s a huge variety of homegrown pumpkins and squashes in different shapes, sizes and colours, alongside fun displays and photo opportunities.
It’s worth knowing that pumpkin picking and the Pumpkin Festival are two separate events here. Pumpkin picking opens on 4 October and finishes before the end of the month to protect the crop from frost. The immersive Pumpkin Festival then runs from 24–31 October, with actors, dancers, entertainers, pumpkin displays, fancy dress, fairground-style games and an outdoor pumpkin-carving area.
My verdict: I’d choose Crockford Bridge if you want the traditional experience of actually walking into the fields and picking your pumpkin where it has grown. For older children, the separate Pumpkin Festival sounds like a fun option for Halloween half term too.

Tulleys Pumpkin Festival, Crawley – Best for Wow Factor
If you want to go big with your autumn day out, Tulleys Pumpkin Festival claims to be Europe’s largest pumpkin festival, with an incredible 1.5 million pumpkins and gourds. This is much more than a simple field of pumpkins, Expect elaborate displays and photo opportunities, seasonal street food, live music, roaming performers and even a 33-metre observation wheel.
New for 2026 is The Pumpkin Valley, a new area filled with giant pumpkin sculptures, ponds and more autumnal displays to explore. Pumpkin Nights looks very atmospheric with two live music stages and a mix of festival food from donuts and crumble to hot dogs, burgers and pizza. Guests can take a woodland walk brought to life through award-winning lighting, holograms and water features.
My verdict: This looks like the pumpkin patch to choose for sheer scale and spectacle – and probably the one I’d pick for those amazing autumn photos! It’s further from central London than some of the others in this guide, but there’s enough going on to make it feel like a destination in its own right.
Where: Crawley, West Sussex
Dates: Selected dates from 19 September 2026
Best for: The wow factor and photos
Cammas Hall Farm, Bishops Stortford – Best for Pumpkin Variety
Cammas Hall Farm grows around 200,000 pumpkins and squashes across more than 50 varieties, so this is one to consider if choosing the perfect pumpkin is the main event. Its annual pumpkin patch is also much more than rows of pumpkins, with Halloween displays, spooky tunnels, seasonal food and plenty of opportunities for autumn photos.
You can also combine your visit with the farm’s huge seven-acre maize maze, which is transformed with a Halloween theme for October. There are separate nighttime pumpkin events too, although these are more for grown ups!
My verdict: The Halloween theming looks like a great seasonal day out. The sheer variety of pumpkins is a big draw and it looks particularly good if you want classic pumpkin-patch photos.
Where: Hatfield Broad Oak, near Bishop’s Stortford

Considering I spent several years pretty convinced that pumpkin picking was not for me, I’m happy to be proved wrong.
Our day at Willows Activity Farm completely changed my mind, and I’m now looking forward to working our way through more of the best pumpkin patches near London with Oscar and Noah.
