Ever since the popularity of Instagram, the Christmas decorations in London have hit the next level. The facades are more creative, the baubles are bigger and the lights are shining brighter! Here are a few of my favourites to visit! Keep an eye on this post as I’ll be adding to it as the festive weeks go on!
1. The Dorchester
One of London’s most famous and most luxurious hotels, the Dorchester have gone all out with decorations this year. Mr S and I took little O there for Sunday lunch recently to admire the decor both inside and out.
Outside little Christmas trees are lined up above the entrance…
While inside there’s a huge Christmas tree, opulent floral displays, life size Nutcrackers, a giant advent calendar and even a festive corner for writing letters to Santa!
2. Annabel’s
This private member’s club is not only known for having London’s prettiest bathroom, it also boasts the best seasonal facades. Last year a giant green Christmas tree graced the Berkeley Square-based building, this year they’ve gone all out with white and silver glitter and gold baubles.
Though you can’t actually go in unless you’re with a member, just getting a picture outside will be a highlight on your Instagram feed.
3. The Langham London
The luxury London hotel is pulling out all the stops for Christmas with the theme of ‘A Langham Christmas Journey.
Working in partnership with luggage brand Globe Trotter, these gorgeous vintage suitcases are displayed by the hotel’s two giant pink and silver trees. Outside the hotel there’s an utterly Instagrammable Landrover piled with presents as well as a mulled wine stand. Inside you can book a table in the aesthetically pleasing Palm Court and order the Dom Perignon Afternoon Tea.
4. The Ivy Chelsea Garden
The Ivy Restaurant group are known for going all out for their festive facades and there is none better than the Ivy Chelsea Garden. This year the theme is Narnia Winter Wonderland and the amazing team at Early Hours have created this gorgeous frosty extravaganza which includes an ice throne, a lamppost and a wardrobe, just like in the book.
4. The JW Marriott Grosvenor House Hotel London
Grosvenor House is another luxury hotel to add to your wish list! There’s a huge Christmas Tree at the doorway while inside the Nutcracker Afternoon Tea is served. To add to the atmosphere of the festive tea, there are giant Nutcrackers and presents galore in the hotel’s Park Room.
5. Aqua Shard
With one of the most beautiful views in London, Aqua Shard really doesn’t need to try to be Instagrammable but they still pull out all the stops during the festive season! The restaurant found in London’s tallest building is currently boasting the amazing Deco Dance Christmas Tree by Scottish fashion designer Holly Fulton as well as serving a gorgeous festive Afternoon Tea.
6. The Connaught
Every year The Connaught Hotel has a giant tree designed by a different artist… this year it’s the internationally acclaimed Sean Scully.
The shimmering lights of the tree are beautifully reflected in the water feature that stands outside one of London’s most glamorous hotels.
7. The George
Again, you won’t be going in unless you know someone but if you fancy getting your picture with real Reindeer, you can find some outside Private Members club, The George.
We took Oscar there for his first ever glimpse of Rudolph!
8. sketch
Another restaurant in London known for it’s incredible aesthetics is sketch on Conduit Street. The entrance way takes you on a journey through Christmas… there are even flurries of snow falling down on you!
9. Dalloway Terrace
This beautiful indoor / outdoor hotel restaurant has once again been transformed for the festive time of year! The perfect place in Bloomsbury for all day dining and to get that Instagram shot!
