Oscar’s 7th Birthday party, private hire of Hamleys Toy Shop

Did you know that you can privately hire the whole of Hamleys, the world’s largest and oldest toy shop, for a child’s birthday party? 

When I found out you could private hire the whole shop, I knew that this would be a birthday to remember for Oscar. 

Every Sunday Hamleys is available for private hire from the hours of 10 am till 12 pm before the shop opens to the public and in that time you have all seven floors of the famous toy shop with it’s 50,000 toys to yourself!

We were given a red carpet welcome with a flurry of bubbles before the doors were opened to the rest of the guests.

Next came an amazing magic show which had the kids spellbound! As the kids watched the show we also had amazing face painter taking requests from the kids.

I had told the organisers about Oscar’s current obsession with Toy Story so everything was perfectly themed around that. Next came a Toy Story themed treasure hunt which took us on a tour of the whole whilst playing different games. The children, even those as young as Noah were engaged the whole time.

After heading back downstairs for a puppet show it was time to head to the cafe for a cake moment.

Toy Story themed of course! And the kids enjoyed a pizza feast while the adults had croissants and fruit.

Oscar and Noah had their faces painted with their beloved Numberblocks.

The kids got to meet the Hamleys bear who presented them all with a party bag. Then the best moment of the day was that Oscar got to do the opening ceremony for Hamley’s and ring the bell and let in all the customers! The smile on his face and the joy that he had was absolutely priceless. 


It was the best party we’ve ever had for him and lots of the guests said the same. I’ve never experienced such a magical birthday. The Hamleys crew did it all so perfectly and the best thing for me was less of a mental load as they did nearly everything. The only thing I had to do was manage the guestlist and of course I hired the photographer the amazing Kat who took all these pictures. 

If you’re interested in a Hamley party they take place on Sunday mornings between 10:00 to 12:00. The children will get to celebrate and explore the entire store to themselves before we open to the public.  

Included is:

• A warm red-carpet welcome with balloons on arrival. 
• A private comical magic show that is perfectly crafted for children to amazed and excite the children. 
• A face painter to give your guests fantastic designs for the very occasion. 
• A treasure hunt that allows the children to venture throughout the 7 floors, which incorporates fun-filled activities and characters along the way. 
• The Hamleys Entertainment Team who will host the party, play games, dance and lead the treasure hunt. 
• A meet and greet with Hamley Bear himself. 
• A Breakfast Buffet of croissants, fruits and chocolates, or a Pizza Feast for the children to enjoy. 
• Hamleys giftbags for the party guests. 
• A gift to the value of £75 that the birthday child can pick themselves. 

This price caters for 20 children, any additional children will be at an added cost.

We also added food and drinks for adults, the balloons and the cake for an extraa cost.
