As August was dominated by my trip to Singapore and Bali, I thought I’d do something a little different for my monthly round-up and summarise my trip using some of my most popular pictures on Instagram. I’m having a bit of a love affair with Instagram at the moment, I didn’t mean to cheat on my old favourite, Twitter, but I couldn’t help myself…Singapore and Bali were so beautiful, I got rather Instahappy when I was there!
After a 13 hour flight to Singapore, our fab trip started with one amazing night at The Fullerton Bay Hotel. We totally loved our gorgeous room with the view of the Marina Bays Sands looming across the way! After fully checking out the room we headed up to the rooftop bar, Lantern, to indulge in wine, cocktails and some of the hotels signature nibbles.
The next day we didn’t have much time to explore, but had lunch on these gorgeous sashimi roses before hopping on a plane for our three hour plane journey to Bali.
We did, of course, have time for a quick look around Changi Airport in Singapore which has been named the world’s best airport. We particularly liked the pretty sunflowers on the roof garden. Don’t sunflowers just make you happy?
Our first couple of days was spent relaxing at the Four Seasons in beautiful Jimbaran, I loved this hotel for the beautiful grounds, fun atmosphere and totally top notch service.
Next we made the hour and half drive up to Ubud, the Bali’s centre of culture. Here we stayed at the Viceroy which was my favourite hotel of the trip. We had the most stunning room, the food was exquisite and the service was perfect.
Our time in Ubud saw us taking a tour around some of Bali’s key cultural sites and natural wonders including this gorgeous waterfall.
Next we headed even further into jungle to stay the night at The Hanging Gardens, a hotel that has become iconic for its tiered pool and astounding architecture.
Next we headed back down south to the beautiful design hotel, the Alila in Uluwatu.
Here modern style was mixed with Balinese design to create a simply stunning hotel. We loved the local Balinese dishes that we tried here and the service was notable for the great attention to detail
With our time in Bali over we headed back to Singapore to stay at the Marina Bay Sands, I couldn’t wait to check out that famous pool with my own eyes!
And to explore the Super Trees at the Gardens By Bay! I can’t wait to tell you in detail about all these fantastic hotels and locations and the amazing time I had in Singapore and Bali!
Here are some of my favourite accounts this month on Instagram:
Twins the Travel have a beautiful colourful and vibrant collection of photos as do the boys from Hand Luggage Only and I love the accounts of both Lauren from the Lifestyle Diaries and Jess from The Travelista as the girls always look so bright smiley and happy! Andrea from Andrea’s Passions has a selection of photos that is guaranteed to make you hungry as do Fiona and Leyla. For flowers, cats, coffee and afternoon tea, Emma, Rebecca and Emily will never fail to delight. But if it’s luxury you’re after Kelly, Suze, Mrs O, Polly and Jean are your ladies. I also love seeing what Catherine, Simone, Jaime, Honey and Jasiminne get up to and my eyes are glued Laura’s account as she takes on the world including a trip to the Arctic next year. What are your favourite Instagram accounts?
And of course don’t forget to follow me on Instagram with my next adventure to St Lucia in October….
