Peggy Porschen Wedding Cake Special Preview

Mr S and I will be tying the knot in just under two months time!I’m one of those girls who has always dreamed about a fantasy wedding…it would take place in a castle, I would wear a princess dress and I would be marrying my prince charming…

All those dreams have come true for me (well not quite the castle but almost…) however, the reality of planning a wedding hasn’t turned out to be all princess dreams. There are so many stresses and strains on you and your family while planning your big day sometimes you wonder if maybe you should forget the whole thing and just run away together…
Having said that, the majority of wedding planning is great fun; particularly the food side of things! I had a fabulous day out earlier in the year with my mum and Mr Silver when we went to choose and taste our wedding cake at Peggy Porschen in Belgravia. An experience which you can read about here.
Peggy’s cakes are fit for a princess; she is simply the best!!
When a pretty pink invitation came through the post inviting me to a preview of her Floral Wedding Cake Collection I obviously didn’t hesitate…
Peggy Porschen Event Invitation
The event was to take place in one of London’s most famous and luxurious hotels, the Mandarin Oriental, Hyde Park.

Stairs at the Mandarin Oriental
A grand staircase led up to the event party room!
I was greeted with champagne, pink obviously! Peggy’s signature colour.

Glass of champagne in hand, I surveyed the room admiring the beautiful cakes that all incorporated floral design.

Many of the cakes were decorated with real flowers all of which had been provided by top London florist, Nikki Tibbles from Wild at Heart. All the bouquets by Nikki are hand made and she has a reputation for having a personal touch. Her beautiful blooms are the perfect match for Peggy’s cakes. The cakes themselves were exquisite.

Just perfect for a princess wedding. I’m sure Kate Middleton would agree!

I got talking to some very lovely fellow bloggers.

Emma Morton, of Cakes, Bakes and Cookies, a multi-talented cake decorator and interior stylist. And the fabulously skilled photographer, Maxeen from B.loved Weddings.

We also met the very lovely Emily, London correspondent for So You’re Getting Married. Emily is also a bride to be and we found out that we had lots in common. It was so good to meet the ladies, and we spent the evening chatting about weddings, honeymoons and cake, obviously!!

I was also lucky enough to meet Peggy herself.

Dressed in pink, of course, Peggy was so sweet and incredibly down to earth despite her success. She even knew which cake I was having!

It was a fabulous night enjoying the grandeur of the Mandarin, the beauty of the flowers and the cakes and meeting some wonderful people.

Peggy’s new book Cakes In Bloom will be published May 22nd 2014.
