Planning a day out with under 5s? There are plenty of fun, toddler-friendly adventures just a short drive or train ride from London.
We loved our nature-inspired day at Windsor Great Park, in particular Adventure Play which was honestly the best adventure playground I ever saw. We also loved having lunch at The Savill Garden Kitchen. It was also an easy hour train ride from London Waterloo to Windsor followed by a short taxi.
2. Peppa Pig World, Paultons Park
Nothing says toddler like Peppa and actually both my boys are mad on Peppa Pig. The theme park brings the world of Peppa Pig to life with cute rides, character meet-and-greets, and muddy puddles fun. Everything is geared towards toddlers and even the smallest child can go on every ride. I think Noah was about eight weeks old when we took him! Older siblings will love Paulton’s Park, the larger theme park that Peppa Pig world is part of. We got the train to Southhampton which takes about hour and then a taxi. It’s easily doable in a day (we’ve done it twice) but we’ve also stayed overnight nearby and visited.
3. LEGOLAND Windsor
Perfect for pre-schoolers, LEGOLAND Windsor is packed with colourful rides, easy attractions, and play zones designed for younger children. DUPLO Valley is perfect for very small children with a play ground and soft play zones and splash safari. We actually got the Elizabeth line from Central London into Slough and then a taxi to Legoland.
Brighton is the classic seaside experience and for me is the epitome of childhood memories. It’s a pebble beach but still lots of fun, and there’s so much to do on Brighton pier or just walking around the city. Don’t forget to get fish and chips!
Brighton is only an hour from Victoria station and is super easy for us to get to.
Animal lovers will adore this hands-on countryside experience. Under 5s can meet farm animals, ride a tractor, and enjoy safe play areas designed just for them. They can even bottle feed a lamb!
Nearest train station, Kingham is just over an hour from London Paddington.
6 Willow Farm – Willow Farm is a Peter Rabbit themed farm park with an adventure playground, daily character meet-and-greets/shows, tractor rides, funfair rides, inflatables, indoor soft play, JCB ride-ons, and lots of farm animals. Your ticket covers the all activities. It’s also the perfect option for Halloween with pumpkin picking and other Halloween related arts and crafts.
