February Frolics: Monthly Round Up

Shackfuyu
Life Lately: I’ve finished the full twelve weeks of Kayla Itsines Bikini Body guide and I couldn’t be prouder of myself for getting through it! I made the decision to ditch the scale and focus on progress photos as Kayla recommends and though too much wine, afternoon tea and bread are still concealing my elusive abs, I’ve definitely lost weight and I’m looking more defined and toned. Winning!!

Last Saturday was my best friend’s hen party and we celebrated with a Breakfast at Tiffany’s themed party at my flat, followed by dinner at SushiSamba, one of Anna’s favourite restaurants. DSC_8457
To fit with our theme, I had these gorgeous cupcakes made by Cakes by Robin who also made my delicious wedding cookie favours, I can’t recommend Robin more in terms of reliability and quality.

In other news, with the Zika epidemic in South America, Mr S and I are seriously considering cancelling our trip to Brazil and Peru. Though it’s disappointing we think we’d better stay safe – we haven’t made a final decision yet but watch this space and I’ll let you know. Have any of you got a trip to South America coming up that you’re considering cancelling?

Events: Earlier in February, Jess invited me along to the launch of the recently refurbished K Bar at the Kensington Hotel, I must say it’s looking super swish and I’d highly recommend it for a chilled evening out with a few glasses of Nyetimber.

One of my favourite wines, Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc, is sponsoring a garden at the Chelsea flower show this year. I got a preview of the garden at the launch event and heard from garden designer Sam Ovens on what inspired his creation.

Katie invited me to come and see her play Twentysomething – The Quarter life Crisis Cabaret at the St James Theatre in Victoria. It was a really great evening and I got to catch up with Katy, Erica and Frankie and I met Claire, Charlie, Phoebe and Milly for the first time. Katie’s play was utterly brilliant, hilarious and fun but also at times poignant and moving, I’d highly recommend seeing it, she’s performing again the 19th of March in the same theatre.

Restaurants: I’ve caught up with lots of my favourite bloggers this month over brunches and dinners. Emma, Aftab and I went for brunch at Hoi Polloi where we all got food envy of Aftab’s pancake stacks and I caught up with Kelly over a Russian-themed lunch at Mari-Vanna.

We also had an almighty blogger dinner at the wonderful Shackfuyu where I finally got to try the famous French toast. DSC_8108
I’ve developed a great friendship with Lauren from The Lifestyle Diaries who I saw a few times this month including dinner at the newly relaunched Theo Randall restaurant at the Intercontinental Hotel, drinks at Mr Fogg’s with our friend Colleen, and a fantastic birthday dinner for Lauren at Coya. Mr S wasn’t too neglected though as we had some great restaurant experiences at Hakkasan and Oliver Maki and our Valentine’s celebrations at House of Ho and sketch. Another favourite restaurant of mine this month was Parisian import, Frenchie in Covent Garden, I was really impressed by the wonderful food on offer there which I sampled at a press preview. DSC_7039
Travels: I enjoyed an absolutely wonderful trip to Champagne and a visit to the both the Mumm and Perrier-Jouët wine cellars – I’m definitely going to head back there with Mr S one day, he was very jealous that I went without him.

March is jam-packed with travel, in the first weekend of the month we’ll be heading to Cornwall. At the end of the month I’m very excited to be heading to Florence to be bridesmaid for my best friend. I can’t wait to see Anna marry the man of her dreams!

Blog Love: Big travel envy goes to Lloyd and Ya Ya’s trip to the Maldives while Catherine’s glamorous trip to Bangkok bought back memories of my stay at the Lebua State Tower many years ago. Honey and Andrea have been making me hungry with their gorgeous restaurant posts and Suze is filling our lives with style and culture on her luxury blog.

I’m also excited to announce that I’ve been appointed Luxury Editor for Bloggeration Magazine, please check out my first post on bloggers’ luxury travel tips for Paris!

What did you get up to in February?
