Bridesmaids at Maze Grill, Park Walk

I’m so excited for my friend, Anna to get married in Florence…the perfect city for a beautiful wedding of a wonderful couple. To add to my excitement, Anna has asked me, along with her younger sister Hazel, to be her bridesmaid. The day dawned for us to go bridesmaid dress shopping, and (rather sensibly) have lunch after trying on our dresses. With a few new places popping up in Chelsea, we decided to try one of the latest branches of Gordon Ramsay’s popular Maze Grill brand. Maze Grill
Champagne was a prerequisite for such an occasion!Maze Grill
Having eaten at the original Maze Grill in Mayfair I was surprised to see that the decor was quite different, while Mayfair is big, bright and airy, the Park Walk branch was much more cosy. With intimate red booths and exposed brick work which inspired by Manhattan Grill rooms. Maze-Grill DSC_0841
For starters we decided to share the sashimi platter from the raw bar, splitting the tuna, salmon and scallops between us. It was beautifully done sashimi and we liked the presentation on the blocks of ice.

Ok, I’m well aware that you’re probably more than a little bored of me having grilled salmon on this blog (though this was beautifully cooked if a little under-seasoned)… but it was the perfect light meal for me and the bride-to-be….

…so here’s something a little more exciting…I don’t think I’ve ever seen onion rings so ginormous and crispy! And the way that they were served was pretty unique too… Maze-Grill DSC_0848
Hazel’s Caesar salad was the most perfect example of egg porn with the crispiest strip of bacon…she bulked it out a bit with buffalo chicken fillets served with chilli and lime.

Champagne was guzzled and chat focussed on the hen do, potential hair styles, make up techniques…I literally can’t wait for more wedding fun; it’s such an exciting time for my best friend.
