23 of the World’s Best Restaurants with a View

For me there’s nothing quite like dining with a view to elevate the whole restaurant experience. The view give a sense of place and a context to the cuisine and some how makes the food taste even better!! Here are my top 23 restaurants with a view:

1. La Sponda at Le Sirenuse, Positano, Italy

Positano on the Amalfi Coast in Italy is quite possibly the most beautiful place I’ve ever been and Le Sirenuse is THE hotel to stay in town. The hotel’s Michelin-starred restaurant, La Sponda serves the most glorious Italian food with a view over the beach, the hillside and the Amalfi Cathedral.

2. Jade Mountain Club at Jade Mountain, St Lucia

One of the most beautiful and unique hotels in the world, Jade Mountain in St Lucia also has a glorious restaurant with a view. With a terrace totally in the open, there is an unobstructed view of the famous Pitons in St Lucia.
The ‘Jade Cuisine’ created by James Beard award winner, Chef Allen Susser is a fresh as can be with many ingredients coming from the hotel’s own garden. There’s also an in-house chocolate factory which is just an unmissable treat!

3. The Delaire Graff Restaurant at The Delaire Graff Estate, Stellenbosch, South Africa

The South African Winelands is the most beautiful wine region I’ve ever seen and whether your staying or dining, The Delaire Graff Estate is worth visiting for the view alone.
Restaurant Delaire Graff serves bistro classics with a South African twist and the terrace commands incredible views of the vineyards, olive groves and the Banhoek Valley.

4. Aroma at Palazza Manfredi, Rome, Italy

A beautiful Michelin-starred restaurant located in a five-star hotel is always going to be incredible. But Aroma at the Palazza Manfredi also has an absolutely unparalleled view of the Colosseum to enjoy while you’re enjoying the modern Italy food of Chef Di Lorio.
Unfortunately there was quite a bit of scaffolding on the iconic building when we were there but I’d love to go back and enjoy the view without it!

5. Altitude Restaurant at Shangri-La Sydney, Australia

Shangri-La Sydney, where we stayed in the city had the most fantastic location and Altitude Restaurant on the 36th Floor had a sensational view.
The floor to ceiling windows show off the Sydney Harbour location and the food is the Australian contemporary style.

6. Aqua Shard, London

There are so many restaurants with fabulous views in London that I could write a whole post on them but for the purposes of this blog post I’ll just opt for one!
From your window seat in London tallest building you can see a panorama of London including the River Thames, the Walkie Talkie, The Gherkin and St Pauls Cathedral. The restaurant is open all day so you can enjoy breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner with this view!

Other London restaurants with a view that I’d recommend are Galvin at Windows, Sushi Samba, Duck & Waffle, City Social, Hutong, Aqua Kyoto, Oblix and Dinner.

7. Jules Verne, Paris, France

Le Jules Verne is Alain Ducasse’s Michelin-Starred restaurant located 125 metres high on the second floor of the Eiffel Tower. You may not be able to see the tower itself but sitting on the second floor of one the world’s most famous buildings with the glittering lights of Paris below is perhaps the most romantic place to be in the world!

8. Vertigo at The Banyan Tree, Bangkok, Thailand

Fancy dining with the world at your feet? Well Vertigo at The Banyan Tree in Bangkok is probably the highest restaurant I’ve ever visited. The rooftop is completely open and the restaurant on the 61st floor has a panoramic view of the city below.

9. Petra at Canavas Oia, Santorini, Greece

Santorini is another one of the most beautiful places that I’ve visited and the very best restaurant with a view was Petra at Canavas Oia
The hotel has a gorgeous cliff top location and perfect view of the famous caldera. You also can’t beat the stunning Greek and Mediterranean food served there.

10. Sierra Mar at Post Ranch Inn, Big Sur, California

Mr S and I stayed at Post Ranch Inn for our honeymoon and it is one of the most beautiful and romantic hotels in the world. The hotel is suspended 1,200 metres above sea level on a lofty cliff top and there are panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean and the rocky headlands.
The food served is fine dining at it’s best!

11. Le Panoramic, Courchevel 1850, France

I may not have quite taken to skiing but I definitely took to the dining scene in Courchevel 1850, one of the top ski resorts in France.
One of my favourites was Le Panoramic, with an altitude of 2732m and has wraparound views of the Alps and Mont Blanc. The food is excellent too and you can enjoy fine French food and a glass of rosé while dining in the clouds. One word of warning though; the prices are sky high too.

12. Mikla, Istanbul, Turkey

Mikla is a gorgeous rooftop restaurant with views across the city of Istanbul and the famous Hagia Sofia and Topkapi Palace.
This restaurant isn’t all about the view though as it has also been ranked No.44 in the world owing to the incredible contemporary Turkish food by Chef Mehmet Gürs.

13. Overwater Bar at Gili Lankanfushi, Maldives

I don’t think a restaurant with a view blog post could be complete without a mention of the Maldives. Mr S and I absolutely loved the Overwater Bar at gorgeous Gili Lankanfushi in the Maldives.

Can there really be a better way to dine than enjoying the freshest of produce with absolutely uninterrupted sea views?

14. Club Del Doge Restaurant at The Gritti Palace, Venice, Italy

I think the Gritti Palace seems to make it onto all my ‘best of’ lists, can you tell how much I loved it? When I think back to eating my breakfast, lunch or dinner on the terrace at Club del Doge Restaurant whilst gazing at the Grand Canal and the Santa Maria della Salute Church in Venice I can hardly believe I was truly somewhere so beautiful.
I’ve been to Venice twice now on press trips but it’s my dream to return with Mr S and show him how beautiful it is.

14. Angama Mara, Maasai Mara, Kenya

The Swahili word for ‘suspended in mid-air’, the luxury safari lodge Angama Mara appears to float high up on a precipice with an incredible view of Kenya’s Maasai Mara.
Dining takes place on the terrace with sweeping views across the Maasai Mara 300 meters below and food is inspired by traditional safari camps.

15. The Rock, Zanzibar

The Rock in Zanzibar is unlike any other restaurant I’ve ever been to before. If you visit at the right time you’ll be adrift on an island totally surround by water sampling some fabulous seafood!

16. Lava at The Blue Lagoon, Iceland

Restaurants at tourist attractions are notoriously bad but Lava at The Blue Lagoon is an exception. Not only does this restaurant have a view over the famous Icelandic landmark, but it also serves rather excellent food!

17. Café Grey at The Upper House, Hong Kong

There are many sky-scraping buildings and lofty restaurants in Hong Kong but we absolutely loved the stylish environs at Cafe Grey at The Upper House where we stayed last time we were in Hong Kong.

There is a sweeping view over the Victoria Harbour from every possible angle and though we didn’t try the main menu of International cuisine by chef Gray Kunz, I have to say that the breakfast was excellent.

18. The Lantern at The Fullertonbay Hotel, Singapore

With a glamorous atmosphere and a sweeping view, I’d highly recommend The Lantern at The Fullerton Bay, one of the most luxurious hotels in Singapore.
Here you can enjoy delicious bar food and cocktails whilst taking in the view of the Marina Bay Sands light show across the water.

19. Sushi SORA at Mandarin Oriental Tokyo, Japan

SushiSora was my first taste of real Japanese sushi on our first night staying in the Mandarin Oriental Tokyo. Not only was it the best sushi I’d ever had in my life but the restaurant is located on the 38th floor and has views over the city skyline including the famous Tokyo Skytree®.

20. CasCades Restaurant at Viceroy Bali, Indonesia

Lush jungle views and a menu of French food with Asian influences characterise this gorgeous restaurant in the luxurious Viceroy Bali in Ubud.

21. La Terrazza Restaurant at Grand Hotel Tremezzo, Lake Como, Italy

Another entry for Italy, no surprise as it’s my favourite country in Europe. La Terrazza Restaurant at Grand Hotel Tremezzo in Lake Como  has across the lake and to Bellagio, the Grigne Mountain with the hotel’s floating pool in the foreground. It’s simply one of the most romantic places on Earth.

22. The Scarlet, Cornwall, England

You can travel far and wide but there’s still nothing quite like the English coast line. The Scarlet in Cornwall is one of my all time favourite hotels in the UK and that’s partly owing to the most gorgeous restaurant with a view of the rugged cliffs and the beach.

23. Nobu Malibu, California

My favourite branch of my favourite restaurant brand, you can hear the crash of the Pacific Ocean as you enjoy your sushi.
Those are the best restaurants with a view that I’ve ever visited. Have you ever eaten at a restaurant with an incredible view?
