10 Things I did in June

Following last months ten things format, I thought I’d do another one to let you know all my June highlights.

1. I took a Private Jet from London to Nice for Lunch

Probably one of the coolest trips I’ve ever done through my blog organised by PrivateFly, an online a global booking platform for private jet charter.
At 8am, we left Luton ariport and by midday we were in Nice having lunch… there was no worries about staying over night or missing an episode of Love Island as I was back home and in my bed by 10pm!

2. I took a girls’ trip to Barcelona

My friend Theresa and I hadn’t seen each other in ages and fancied a bit of sunshine, so we went and booked a spontaneous trip to Barcelona! I also needed one more flight to retain my British Airways Silver membership for the next year and with Barcelona being so close and inexpensive, it was the perfect choice.

We stayed in the gorgeous Soho House Barcelona, spent a night drinking cocktails and enjoyed some amazing seafood on the beach. Apart from getting some shots for Instagram (obvs) I took it fairly easy on the photos especially as Soho House is a members club and doesn’t allow photos and social media but I’m planning a diary-style post about what we got up to.

3. What I’m reading

I promised myself I’d get back into reading and hold myself accountable on my blog, but I’m aware I haven’t even mentioned it in the last few posts. Anyway, I finished Shadow of the Wind and never quite took to it though it did get more exciting towards that end. I read current bestseller, Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine, and I’d highly recommend it! Everyone else who I’ve suggested it to loved it was well. I also finished My Not-So-Perfect Life by Sophie Kinsella. I’m a huge fan of Sophie Kinsella having read all her books and particularly loving the Shopaholic series. Her latest novel is a really fun read, and it’s a look at life behind the ‘gram, and what happens to heroine, Kate when she loses her dream job in marketing.

4. A UK break!

Mr S and I took our first UK break of the year! I actually booked our stay at The Pig in the New Forest way back in October. I booked it before South America and before Amalfi, which just goes to show how popular this group of boutique hotels has become.
When he first saw our room Mr S said ‘oh, we’re staying in a garden shed…’ but he soon fell for the charm of the rustic, cosy luxury of the place as I had already done with my previous stay at The Pig on the Beach.

5. My sister’s birthday

It was my sister’s birthday this month and we celebrated in style with lunch at Nobu on the actual day and then a girls night out at MNKY HSE at the weekend.

Birthday night out @mnky_hse with my best girls 🎂❤🎉

6. Passion for Fashion

You may have noticed that my wardrobe consists almost exclusively of dresses…I’m never wear trousers and I’m not really a mix and match type when it comes to clothes. My current obsession for beautiful dresses is Zimmermann….

7. What I’m Watching

Two words. Love Island.

A bit more? Ok…well it’s the first time I’ve ever watched and honestly, I’m obsessed. I can well and truly see what all the fuss is about.

8. Discovering Preferred Hotels

I attended to events with Preferred Hotels, a collection of over 700 luxury hotels across the world. The first was lunch with some hoteliers in London while the second was a bloggers event at Sopwell House in St Albans. We ate picnic food, played garden games and drank lots of gin but best of all, I got to hand out with some of my favourite bloggers.

9. Alfresco Drinking and Dining

When the sun is out, Londoners flock to the best alfresco terraces and rooftop bars in London. This month I checked out Laurent-Perrier’s Midsummer Terrace at Mondrian London for drinks and nibbles with a view of St Paul’s Cathedral.
And I also paid a visit to L’Azur, the new nautical-themed terrace at Four Seasons Hotel at Park Lane with Emma and Binny.
There’s a few more terraces on my hit list that I can’t wait to try and tell you all about.

10. Travel Link Up

This month the topic we’d love to hear about is where you have travelled to make a difference or about people or acts that have had an impact on your travel.
Our lovely co-host Polly has been going through a really tough 9 months, and started her #spreadalittlesunshine campaign on social media to encourage people to carry out acts of kindness.
How to link up your post

Just pop your post up over the first week of the month (the 1st – 7th July 2018), add it to the link up widget found on Follow Your SunshineAdventures of a London Kiwi and SilverSpoon London, or on the blog of our lovely double guest hosts Leona at Wandermust Family (who suggested this topic) & Binny at Binny’s Food and Travel.
