Life Lately: Don’t you feel like everything slows down in summer, I mean I’m still doing all the usual things like hanging out with Mr S, meeting bloggers, working away on new blog posts but it just feels like everything is moving at a slower pace.
Anyway, this month I met up with Polly, Emma, Jessi and Aftab to meet Polly’s little blogger in training, Sophia, and we had a fab mid afternoon meal (lunch / dinner / tea) at the gorgeous Ivy Brasserie in Kensington. While we discussed all things blogging and ate chocolate pudding we left blogger husbands Mr Silver and Mr Sunshine to talk about football and the perils of being married to a blogger….

I also collaborated with About Time Magazine to give a social media workshop as part of their summer school programme. After all our hard work myself and the other attendees were rewarded with a delicious two course brunch at Kensington Place.

I’ll be giving another workshop on How to Create an Amazing blog later in the summer, watch this space for further details.
You won’t have been able to escape me going on about how much I loved Jersey this month, so much so that BBC Radio Jersey asked me to appear on the their morning slot to talk about luxurious things to do on the small island. It was my radio debut so as you can imagine I was pretty nervous, but I think I did ok…I always knew that I had a face for radio 🙂
I was also honoured to be nominated ‘Social Media Hero’ in the THIRTY PLUS awards for bloggers and I headed to the glamorous awards ceremony at The Charlotte Street Hotel last night. I didn’t win but I met lots of bloggers and received a very generous goody bag from The Body Shop…fingers crossed for next year.
Restaurants: Hotel restaurants seem to be a trend on the blog this month and I tried the best steak in town at CUT at 45 Park Lane. I also revisited one of my favourite sushi restaurants, Nobu Old Park Lane at The Metropolitan Hotel and tried the Thoughtfully Sourced, Carefully Served menu at The Montagu at Hyatt Regency London – The Churchill. One my absolute highlights was enjoying the ‘Journey Through British Summertime’ afternoon tea at Four Seasons Hotel London at Park Lane paired with a flight of refreshing JING Tea…aren’t these pastries just gorgeous?
Outside of hotels I enjoyed four fantastic Asian-fusion meals with London’s best dim sum at Yauatcha and the most delicious seafood at Sexy Fish. I had a fab double date with Lauren and Andy at Hutong and tasty Chinese at Chai Wu – I’ll be blogging about both soon.
Travel: I think you can tell that I fell in love with Jersey, seeing as I wrote five posts about our two night stay! We loved The Atlantic Hotel and Mark Jordan on the Beach as well as lunch at The Oyster Box, a spin on the Fizz Too and a day at Longueville Manor.
I’m still finishing off all my posts from the epic Asian trip and check out my visit to Osaka where we stayed at the St Regis Hotel and ate ALL the food. We also had a fantastically luxurious stay at Amanpulo where we also ate ALL the food…. eeek!
At the beginning of month, I had a wonderful time exploring Lausanne on my first ever visit to Switzerland. I very much enjoyed my stay at Hotel Royal Savoy Lausanne as well as a luxurious day enjoying chocolate, wine and beautiful views…is there anything better? Talking of food, I also wrote a guest post this month for The Travel Hack so check out my top tips for choosing the best restaurants while traveling.
Finally on a hugely exciting note, with a British Airways companion voucher to use I was scrolling through the flights available on air miles when I stumbled across flights to Kenya. After a quick consultation with Mr S, we booked them and are now making plans for a trip in October! Watch this space for more details to come but we’re looking to combine safari with a beach break so that we can get the best of both worlds.
Blog love: Big love to Binny from Binny’s Kitchen who has given me some great advice about Kenya and whose travels are always an inspiration to me. Also huge congratulations for Amanda on her beautiful wedding and to Lauren and Aftab for passing their exams.
