June Journeys: Monthly Round Up

Life Lately: June has been a journey for many of us, with moments of joy, mixed with heavy hearts…serious decisions made and some left feeling regretful. Let’s move onwards and upwards into the future.

It’s been a month since I returned from my big Asia trip and the days have passed so quickly! The highlight being Katie and Ben’s wedding at the beginning of June. Two fabulous people, both wonderful bloggers who have come to mean a lot to me in my past two and half years of blogging. It was an honour to attend their wedding and see two people so in love united forever!

There were celebrations in my family too, with my sister’s birthday and Father’s Day falling on the same day. We had lunch at Maze Grill in Chelsea, and though I took off my blogging hat for the day, I couldn’t resist taking pictures of some of the highly Instagrammable dishes.

Mr S was pretty happy with his starter today @mazegrill

Events: At the beginning of the month I high-tailed it to South African restaurant, High Timber to enjoy the fantastic food of Mircel McSween. The dinner was actually to celebrate the gourmet partnership of the restaurant with Sabi Sabi, a gorgeous South African game reserve. DSC_7552
Chef Mircel will be visiting the four lodges in Sabi Sabi to discover more about the local produce whilst lending his own experience of the London restaurant scene. The chefs at Sabi Sabi will reciprocate by coming to London to share their skills with the team at High Timber. The food on the night was excellent and it bought back wonderful memories of my trip to South Africa last year, I’m really hoping to return some time soon!

Summer season brings outdoor events and the annual Taste of London festival, celebrating some of London’s finest restaurants and top producers. I was visiting as a guest of Laurent-Perrier with the opportunity to check out their masterclass in partnership with The Dorchester.DSC_7751
I also attended the opening of the Secret Garden, a new terrace at The Four Seasons Park Lane in association with the delicious summer drink Veuve Cliquot, RICH. DSC_7713DSC_7715
Restaurants: In terms of restaurants, it’s been quality over quantity on the blog this month and I’ve enjoyed a delicious dinner at private members’ club 12 Hay Hill with Laurent-Perrier pairings.
