The next day was spent aboard the Silver Matrix, Gary’s boat which he keeps anchored in Cannes…
We’d spent the day at sea, meeting up with Eden Erina and the rest of the family, watching the children play and finally in the evening watching the sun glittering in the evening as the golden hour approached.
We piled off the Silver Matrix and headed into nearby beach restaurant, skin hot, damp and salty and hair a mess from being whipped by the sea. We were messy and sweaty from a day out on the boat but smiling from the fun we’d had together and the vast amounts of rosé consumed while on board.
Mr and Mrs Silver Snr basked in the now fading sunlight as we watched children playing on the beach belonging to L’Ecrin, the beautiful restaurant at the port of Encanto.
I Instagrammed the gorgeous location…
As we watched the sun begin to set…
There were happy smiles all around as we ordered a few light bites to nibble on: lobster rolls, a sushi platter, fillet of sea bass and tuna tartare. A few of my absolute favourites and perfect light dishes at the end of a hot day at sea. I’ve mentioned before in my blog that though I love Michelin stars and fine dining, my favourite restaurants are the ones that give you a sense of place, the view of the Colloseum at Aroma, the mountain vistas of Stellenbosch at the Delaire Graff Estate or rice fields in Chiang Mai.
That’s how I felt about L’Ecrin, it was such a beautiful setting, perfect for watching the sunset with the glittering lights of Cannes as a backdrop.
We loved it so much that headed back there on our last day for lunch, more sushi and the most perfect tuna Nicoise salad…
…a beautiful restaurant ideal for anytime of day…
