March Moments: Monthly Round Up

With life at SilverSpoon HQ getting busier and busier, I thought I’d introduce a new regular feature and look back at the last month’s happenings and to look forward to the month ahead.

Life Lately: As I publish this new post, I am currently in South Africa! I’ve got just under week left of our big adventure and I can’t wait to tell you some more exciting tales of what Mr S and I got up to during our time away. The start of the month was very quiet as I was getting fit and gearing up for my big trip to Africa, after such a busy time in February it was rather lovely and relaxing to spend so much time in and chill with Mr Silver. In terms of blogging, I’ve been working on a new WordPress site and I plan to finally make the move when I’m back from Africa.

Restaurants of the Month: Without a doubt my March favourite was Bob Bob Ricard, where I had a double date with Katie and Ben. I mean who wouldn’t totally love this pudding?

You can also check out Ben’s version of the night over on his blog. Looking back on February, I visited some really fab places including Hakkasan for Chinese New Year, a tweet up at two Michelin-starred Hibiscus and dinner with Zoe, Emily and Rosie at 64 Degrees. I also had a rather special Valentine’s Day where we revisited The Dorchester for dinner.

Events: March was rather quiet on the events front but I really enjoyed a morning brunch at Blog School organised by Yelp and About Time Magazine.

I got some great advice from super bloggers and social media experts including Niamh from Eat Like a Girl and the pair behind fabulous Instagram account Symmetry Breakfast. The guys at Yelp also announced an exciting event called the Pignic, a micro pig pop-up happening in May!

Back in February I had fun unwinding at the Rosewood Hotel spa, attending a bloggers afternoon tea (which actually happened in January but I blogged it in February) at Brown’s Hotel and a breakfast at The Hospital Club.

Travels: On the 18th of March I left for South Africa and so far I have enjoyed time in Johannesburg, Cape Town, Franschhoek, Plettenberg Bay and Hermanus. I’ll be back on the 8th of April and I can’t wait to tell you more about my adventures. There’s so much gorgeous sunshine and it couldn’t be more different to the beautiful snowy scenery I saw in Istanbul back in February!

My Favourite Posts: It’s been a really varied month but one of my favourite posts was the travel link-up. The theme for the month was ‘Lost in Translation’ and I wrote about how food and menus can often be misinterpreted and the funny things that can happen when it does.

My favourite post from February related to why Mr Silver is my ideal travel companion; it was one that I really enjoyed writing as it made me smile to think of all our differences and similarities. I also loved writing about the Guiltless Afternoon Tea at the Intercontinental as it gave me a chance to look back on some of my blogging firsts as well as enjoying some ‘healthy’ cakes. It was also really fun to show you around my local area in two posts about Victoria.

Blog Love: My favourite post from March was Emma’s post about completing 101 goals in 1001 days, I loved this post and found it truly inspirational! In terms of travel, Jasiminne made us jealous of her incredible trip to South East Asia, Catherine showed us the beauty of snow-capped Slovakia and later sunny Australia, Caroline journeyed through Hong Kong, Thailand and Japan and Laura drank the world’s best hot chocolate in Paris. Back in London Suze and Kelly enjoyed a champagne fuelled afternoon tea, Aftab and Kelly sampled some classic London fish and chips and Katy made me crave Mexican food. Some of the most impressive #foodporn was provided by Rebecca and a home made 15 course tasting menu for Christmas dinner… making us all look forward to Christmas again already…

Over on Instagram Felicia has made constantly craving cupcakes, Jaime has made me want to live at Fortnum and Mason and Fiona and Leyla have made me want to return to South East Asia.

I hope you’ve enjoyed my first monthly round up and as you can see it really had been a busy month! What have been your March highlights?
