Welcome to the New Look SilverSpoon London
I’m super excited to launch a brand new look for my blog! We’ve fully rebranded, there’s a new logo and we’ve given the website a shiny new look that’s much more modern and up-to-date. I’m so happy with how it looks and I really hope you like it too. One thing that won’t be changing is the author of these blog posts. It’s me (Angie Silver) and me alone, I’ve always been fiercely protective of my little corner of the internet and never been able to relinquish control and let someone else write for me!

2025 is the eleventh year of SilverSpoon London. The blog started out as a hobby, a personal diary and a place to record my travels, restaurant visits and other personal stories. Starting in 2014, it was just before I got married and I featured the lead up to my wedding, the day itself and the honeymoon. Back then it was all about the blog and social media wasn’t the giant it is now so I just enjoyed writing my posts, publishing fuzzy photos, going on twitter and publishing on Instagram about once a month!
One of my inspirations for my blog was my dad who sadly died last year. He was a hugely prolific blogger though without the bells and whistles of a professional blog, for him it was just a hobby that he loved! Like him I started out on Blogspot, bought a domain name and a cheap template from Etsy to make it look a bit better! I never thought I’d have readers but I started to get comments and soon had a whole community. In 2015 I moved the blog to self-hosted WordPress, added more functionality and had more freedom with layout and design.

I never expected to be eventually working on major collaborations with brands, going on press trips and winning awards but my blog grew and grew and became so much more than a small hobby for me. I also bought a proper camera and learnt photography, and Instagram became my secondary platform rather than something I just posted on when I remembered!
Oscar was born!
2019 was my biggest year personally as it’s when we had Oscar. I was excited to take a new direction with my blog and focus on luxury family travel as well as restaurants to take the kids (or for a date night for mum and dad!) as well as things to do in London and the UK.

However, in an unprecedented turn of events, Covid hit and travel blogs did not fare well from the experience!
To be honest over those years of Covid I lost my motivation for blogging and Instagram and it took me a while to get that motivation back. It seemed like the whole world of blogging had changed, it wasn’t about an authentic community anymore but about numbers of followers and creating highly curated unrealistic content. I didn’t know where my place was in the blogosphere and what content I wanted to be putting out there.
But in 2023 I got my inspiration back… and it came with baby no.2… Noah.

Welcome Noah
My love for Instagram was reignited with the introduction of reels and soon I began posting about my experiences of motherhood plus travel with my two little boys. Instagram was becoming relatable again, I was enjoying consuming the content and creating it. I was experiencing the community and authenticity of social media that had given me the bug for it in the first place.
With this new approach to Instagram, it was time to take a fresh approach to my blog. It had been ten years since the last redesign after all! It’s taken some to find the right person but now it’s here and we’re ready to go!

Layout-wise SilverSpoon London 2.0 isn’t vastly different to the old site. We still have the categories of luxury travel, restaurants and London life but with a cleaner look, easier navigation and more aesthetic appearance. Apart from the look, the biggest change is the content… whilst all the old content is still there dating back 11 years the new content will be very family-focussed. However, I don’t like to forget the roots of SilverSpoon and there will still be the occasional fine dining post if I think it’s of interest to my readers.

I’ll be giving the lowdown on travel that’s great for kids but parent pleasing too because travelling in style doesn’t stop when you have little ones. It’s the five star hotels that also have great kids clubs, they do fine dining brilliantly but don’t forget the little ones (high chairs and kids menus provided of course!). Rooms are spacious enough for a family but they don’t compromise on style! I’ll also be providing itineraries, restaurant recommendations and travel tips that make travel with children a breeze.
But how is SilverSpoon London different to other travel websites? Our recommendations are accompanied by personal stories and honest anecdotes because luxury travel isn’t all about where you stay, it’s the memories you make with people you love.

All this content will be spread across my two main platforms, this blog and my Instagram @angiesilverspoon so keep an eye on both for up to date stories.
Welcome to the NEW SilverSpoon London. Whether you’ve been here for a decade or you’re new to our adventures, we’re happy to have you along for the ride!
