Regular readers will know how much I’ve raved about my local Aussie-inspired restaurant Timmy Green which has become a regular haunt for Mr S and I (the shakshouka is the perfect hangover cure and the coffee is just dreamy). Part of the Daisy Green Collection, it’s a tribute to this brand’s popularity that new restaurant locations are popping up all over London. Finally Timmy’s not-so-little-sister Scarlett Green has launched in Soho with a rather epic 4000ft worth of space upstairs and downstairs and different menus for brunch, lunch and dinner.
In true Daisy Green style, interiors are uncomplicated but still utterly Instagrammable. It’s a light and bright space with huge bespoke artwork on the walls, a beautiful marble bar and brightly coloured seating.
There’s always something a little quirky and different about Daisy Green restaurants and the drink of summer, Aperol Spritz, is served on tap along with a rather refreshing sounding Cucumber Spritz.
One thing I love about thw restaurants is the individuality of each – there’s nine in the group now but they don’t feel like bland chain restaurants. There’s different items on the menu at each as well as old favourites.
The spicy tuna tostadas are great as a starter nibbles – they’re fairly small so you may want more than one.
The sea bass ceviche, avocado, tigers milk, crunchy corn is excellent and not something I’ve seen at other restaurants in the group. All the fish served is caught and delivered daily.
Roasted sweet potato with pomegranate are a great healthy alternative to fries – it’s served with a delicious yogurt dressing.
The Daisy Green shakshouka with spiced tomatoes, peppers, labne, baked eggs and charcoal toast IS my hangover cure and don’t let that black bread put you off, it’s delicious.
The lunch menu has several options for healthy salads and we opted for the baby gem lettuce with broccoli, cauliflower, peas, green beans, avocado, coconut flakes, mixed seeds and avocado dressing. We asked for additional lemon and herb chicken but they got our order wrong and gave us tuna which was too well cooked for my taste.
The dinner menu is slightly different to lunch and contains a few extra options but the chef kindly made for us the Hot Bondi prawns in secret Scarlett sauce usually only on the dinner menu. This was our other favourite dish of the day as it’s covered in flavoursome chilli peppers and THAT amazing sauce!
Dessert is a must, particularly the Melbourne Mars Bar cheesecake ball which is a ball of chocolate stuffed with cream and Mars Bar chunks and topped with strawberries. Or a lighter option in the form of a yogurt pavlova.
Scarlett Green is another hit for the Daisy Green Collection team and a spot in busy Soho was well overdue. It’s great to see this brand go from strength to strength as the food is really top quality and the atmosphere is always warm and welcoming.
