Is there a better way of a way of truly admiring an island, than seeing it by sea? Jade Mountain offers a half day sailing as part of the Total Romance Package but we were advised to upgrade this and take the opportunity to enjoy the Jazzy Sunset Cruise that sets sail every Thursday.
It was all aboard Jade Mountain’s catamaran and a potent rum punch was firmly pressed into my hand as climbed up to the top deck.
With the punch proving too much for me, I soon switched to wine and we were off on our way. Now a warning about the cruise, it’s certainly not an private, romantic experience as we had sailing in Bali or Bora Bora but it is very fun. Certainly more booze cruise than luxury yacht; drinks flowed freely and we got chatting to lots of other guests as we sailed the calm Caribbean sea whilst listening to bluesy tunes…
It was a great vantage point to view Jade Mountain high on the hill top…
And to admire the lush verdant hills of the island; I don’t think I’ve ever seen a more photogenic place.
Suddenly there was a rumbling of excitement from the lower deck and we raced downstairs to see what the commotion was all about…
A beautiful school of dolphins slided, flipped and skipped into view….
And gracefully treated us to some synchronised swimming…
While I’ve seen dolphins before, I’ve never seen so many and so close up. Unfortunately then the heavens opened and a massive downpour started so we all huddled under cover…as soon as it began it was over and a we were treated to a beautiful rainbow arching over the island…
With our drinks in hand and everyone very somewhat tipsy we toasted the beautiful island of St Lucia.
And with happy smiles on our faces, we watched as the sun dipped below the horizon…
Setting on a dream of a day in this wonderful place. As soon as we were in darkness, the staff led us down below deck where a party kicked off and drank, danced and partied some more!
