The Perfect Honeymoon: Highway to Heaven

I’m so excited about my wedding in two weeks time but there’s one thing I’m more excited about…
Our honeymoon!!
I absolutely love luxury travel and my honeymoon is the chance to have the trip of a lifetime and see places that I’ve always wanted to see and to revisit some of my favourite spots.I wanted to combine excitement and adventure with relaxation, and to include lots of shopping, food, wine and cocktails!

My honeymoon
One place I’d always wanted to visit was Tahiti and the beautiful island of Bora Bora. Unfortunately Bora Bora is difficult to get to from London and I knew I would have to save it for a special occasion…
The easiest way for a Brit to access the beautiful island is via LA… so I worked itinerary back from there for a big adventure in the United States!
Mr Silver has never been to New York, so the city that never sleeps seemed like the ideal starting point for our mega trip.
I’ve been to the Big Apple a few times but I can’t wait for Mr Silver to experience the big city lights and the romance of New York. It’s my second favourite city in the world (nothing can replace London in my heart) and I know he’s going love it too!
On the agenda for our time in New York is seeing the sights, lots of shopping, dining in some fab restaurants and enjoying the fantastic culture.Next, is the major part of our honeymoon, California. Despite my love of The OC, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Baywatch and Sweet Valley High, I could go on… I’ve never been to California and so I’m incredibly excited to see the place where I vicariously grew up.

First, we’ll be flying over to San Francisco where we’ve hired a car and we plan to head straight up to Napa Valley.
I’ve always wanted to go to the Napa Valley, mainly because I just love wine! But the views looks spectacular and the food is world-renowned. I have pre-booked some vineyard tours to make sure that we see the very best that Napa has to offer.
Rather excitingly, I have also got us a table at Thomas Keller’s three Michelin-starred restaurant, The French Laundry. It has been a dream of mine to eat at his restaurant and I’m so glad that we secured a reservation because my time in Napa wouldn’t feel complete without it! It’s a four hour meal so it’ll be quite an epic blog but one I’m very much looking forward to writing! We will then head back down south where will be staying right at the foot of the iconic Golden Gate bridge.

Here we will have a guided tour of the bridge and we will find out all the history of the fabulous structure.

Next, we’ll continue back down to San Francisco.

Many people have told me that San Fran is their favourite American city, I’ve never been so I’m very excited to go! I’ve already booked our tickets to Alcatraz… though I’m slightly scared of going…

I’m also very much looking forward to the dining scene and visiting Fisherman’s Wharf and Union Square. Shopping will once again be on the cards…lucky Mr Silver likes it was much as I do!! And I can’t wait to sample some of the night life that San Francisco to offer. There’s so much to do here that I really don’t want to miss out so hints and tips are much appreciated.

We’ll then be getting in a car and jumping on to the legendary Highway One!

Depending on how much time we have I hope to take in some of the sights and sounds of Monterey and Carmel before arriving at one of America’s most beautiful natural landscapes: Big Sur.

Our time here will be a chance to totally relax in complete romantic seclusion. Fine wine, good food and spa treatments will definitely be the order of the day. Though Mr Silver and I love our holidays together, he likes a lot of relaxation time whereas I like to doing stuff. Therefore, I always have build relaxation time into our busy schedule (I have an excel spreadsheet and everything).

Relaxed enough? Ok it’ll be then back in the car and on to our next destination. Santa Barbara, via San Simeon and a visit to Hearst Castle.

Sadly, we only had time for one night in Santa Barbara…

….but we still have chance to sample the stunning views, food and wine of the American Riviera before heading on to LA LA land!! There will be two legs to our stay in LA and we’ll be starting off in the beachfront city of Santa Monica. Shopping, eating and nightlife will again be our activities of choice as well as hanging out on the beach for ‘relaxation time.’

From here we will fly out to our dream destination…Tahiti! And Bora Bora!!

Our stay in an over water bungalow will be true honeymoon heaven with eight days of pure ‘relaxation time’ lucky Mr Silver. In Bora Bora we’ll indulge in delicious Polynesian food, cocktails, cocktails and more cocktails and maybe a break for some champagne…

We will have heavenly spa treatments, sunset cruises and private dinners…all the things that honeymoons are made of….

Next, it’s back to LA and a short stay in Beverly Hills, where we’ll hopefully do some celebrity spotting as well as a bit of a shopping on Rodeo Drive.

Then it’ll be on to our last destination and where better to end the dream honeymoon then one of my favourite places in the world LAS VEGAS baby!!!!

I’ve been to Vegas before but where else can you take advantage of such amazing shows…

My honeymoon
We’ll be away for four weeks in total and I plan to blog most of it!
Directly after a wedding we will be flying off to Florence for a couple of nights and then two weeks later heading off on our dream honeymoon. I can’t wait to go and to tell you all about it! Hints and tips for places to go, eat, dance are very welcome indeed!
