One of the best things about writing a blog is the wonderful places that it takes you and the fantastic people who you meet.
I had a lovely lunch with Melanie from Sunny in London last week at Bubbledogs and we planned to meet again at the weekend for tea! On this occasion we were joined by the lovely Chelsea Girl from King’s Road Rocks.
The location was our Chelsea Girl’s local haunt and the venue for our tea was La Brasserie, an authentic French restaurant on Brompton road.
I arrived a little early as I know there are some gorgeous boutiques in the area plus its a short walk from Harrods and Harvey Nics. So after a little browse in Maje, Sandro and The Kooples I went to meet my fellow bloggers for a few fabulous cocktails.
It was a sunny day and the glamourous Chelsea crowd sat outside drinking wine and sipping coffee. The scene reminded me of the Parisian pavement cafes that Mr Silver and I loved on our romantic trip to the French Capital.
Is there anything quite so fabulous as the Parisian cafe culture? It was a Saturday with no rush to get anywhere, a day to meet with friends, people watch and sip cocktails in a gorgeous setting.
And in an Parisian brasserie I expect red checkered tablecloths and bistro chairs…
And that’s exactly what I got.
And now we’re in France why not start with a glass of champers rather than a cup of English tea?
When in Paris a lady simply must have an exquisitely delicate afternoon tea. Many well-known Parisians such as Coco Chanel relished the ritual of afternoon tea.
The Parisan fashionista would of course start with the finger sandwiches.
Smoked salmon is my very favourite and La Brasserie also provided the traditional cucumber sandwich and the perennial choice ham with mustard mayonnaise.
If you don’t have a sweet tooth La Brasserie offer a full breakfast, lunch and dinner menu including such French classics as soupe a l’oignon, escargots, boeuf bourguignon and confit de canard.
We took a pause from our delicate French nibbles and ordered a cocktail each.
I could not resist ordering a Made in Chelsea which contained a delicious combination of vodka, fresh blackberries, fresh strawberries and champagne. It was the perfect refresher for a sunny day!
And it was a La Brasserie Martini and Oyster for our Chelsea girl.
Containing elderflower cordial, champagne and grapefruit. Yes, that really is a side of oyster!
And a Brompton Road for my American friend.
Vodka, peach, passion fruit, pineapple and champagne. A touch of the tropics in Chelsea.
Next it was a big juicy scone.
Served, as tradition dictates, with clotted cream and strawberry jam.
A finally the piece de resistance! A gorgeous selection of French pastries.
And so tiny…parfait for the Parisian fashionista! The gorgeous little collection included mini choux, framboisier, petit financier and mini opera among others.
And here’s an Eye-ful (get it) of our gorgeous tower of treats.
Myself and my American friend chose to follow with a raspberry bellini, while our Chelsea girl chose a passion fruit martini. The cocktails at La Brasserie are fantastic and inventive but the barman can also make any classic should you fashionistas desire it!
And before we said au revoir it was time for one more delicious glass of champagne.
After an epic fabulous four hour tea we parted ways with a plan to meet again soon for more cocktails and further fun blogger-style.
La Brasserie is the perfect place in Chelsea for all-day dining, with divine food and fashionable surroundings. There’s even a huge Chanel boutique close by!
